Your evening starts out with optional transportation from your resort or meeting point to the brightly colored fiesta at Xoximilco, a man-made complex of fresh waterways located right where Cancun and the Riviera Maya meet. You can also make your own way to this festive place, into which you’ll enter through an intricate passageway that includes walkable glass and suspended bridges, leading you to the home base of ‘La Isla’ for the warm-up revelry. You can participate in a carnival full of games that include a foosball competition, some dart throwing, or even a game of pin the tail on the donkey
A musical surprise will also get your cheerful spirits started with dancing as the evening truly comes alive. Then you’ll get assigned to your trajinera, a wooden boat that will be colorfully decorated according to the Mexican state for which it’s named. Step into your vessel and get ready for a dinner party unlike any you’ve ever experienced on land.
Once on board, meet your lively host in charge of ensuring that you and your group have the best time and that the drinks start flowing. You’ll also be guided as the boat’s navigator rows down the waterways, taking you through the floating convoy of color and amazing views that make Xoximilco Cancun a must-visit. This includes several stops to listen to live musicians playing traditional Mexican sounds like mariachi and norteno.
As you continue sailing down the beautiful waterways, which replicate the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Xochimilco in Mexico City, enjoy a dinner that introduces you to the diversity of flavors that make up Mexican cuisine. Sample dishes from several different states and get a real taste of each region.
